Arizona’s Site Steward program is turning 30 this year. About 800 volunteers monitor around 1,700 archaeological sites around the state, and report vandalism to land managers. Doug Newton has been a site steward for 24 of those 30 years. Mary Estes is the former State Site Steward program director.
Mark Brodie is a co-host of The Show, KJZZ’s locally produced news magazine. Since starting at KJZZ in 2002, Brodie has been a host, reporter and producer, including several years covering the Arizona Legislature, based at the Capitol.
