Buckeye Welcomes First Big Development Project In Over 20 Years

Cardinal IG will build a manufacturing facility in Buckeye.

A Minnesota-based company plans to break ground in Buckeye this summer on a 200,000-square-foot facility to make residential windows and doors.

According to a city news release, Cardinal IG plans to hire 100 people. City leaders say Buckeye's acquisition of a water company last year along with the council’s decision to opt out of collecting municipal sales tax for manufacturing operations were key reasons the company decided to build there.

The facility will be located north of downtown and is expected to begin manufacturing insulating glass in 2017.

Cardinal IG is a wholly owned subsidiary of Cardinal Glass Industries based in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. According to the company's website it has over 6,000 employees at 37 manufacturing locations across the United States.
