Campfire and smoking restrictions will begin Wednesday in four of Arizona’s National Forests, in response to summer weather conditions.
The National Forest Service announced restrictions in the Coconino, Kaibab, Prescott and Apache-Sitgreaves national forests. In addition, shooting firearms is currently prohibited in the Prescott National Forest. Those who violate the fire restrictions face an appearance in federal court.
In the Phoenix area, the Bureau of Land Management also will enforce fire restrictions on public lands including the Sonoran Desert National Monument and Boulders Staging campground. The restrictions will remain until temperatures drop and humidity levels rise, reducing the risk of fire.
