The wildfire burning near the central Arizona town of Yarnell is 80 percent contained. Authorities say the Tenderfoot Fire charred more 4,000 acres.
Dolores Garcia is with the Bureau of Land Management. She says firefighters will remain on the scene to help manage the fire.
"Crews are working on the line, continue to work on the line, to enhance the containment lines, patrol the containment lines, ensuring we’ve got the heat away from the containments lines," she said. "We’re still going to be seeing some heat in the interior of the fire at least until the monsoons come.
Garcia credits the community of Yarnell for creating fuel breaks around their town, which helped firefighters get the upper hand on the fire. She says at Tenderfoot’s peak, almost 400 firefighters were fighting the blaze.
