Show Low, Pinetop-Lakeside Communities Could Be Evacuated Due To Cedar Creek Fire

Residents in several east central Arizona communities are being told to prepare for a possible evacuation after a wildfire has burned nearly 5,300 acres.

The Cedar Creek fire, which is burning brush and ponderosa pine, is moving toward Show Low and Pinetop-Lakeside.

Fire Chief Jim Morgan with Pinetop-Lakeside says weather will be a big factor in how the flames spreads. "Its dry. Humidity is in the 14 percent range, winds coming out of the Southwest gusting up to 28 miles per hour, so we could see some significant fire weather as a result of the weather pattern."

Morgan says there are 150 personnel on the ground as well as air support. He says the cause of the fire is under investigation.
