“Dr. Sirven, when are you going to retire?” my patient asks.
“Not for a long time. Why?” I respond trying not to feel insulted.
“I just wondered since I have seen so many of my other doctors retire whether you are too.”
“No, I’ll probably continue to work until I’m old,” I say.
“Isn’t there a mandatory age when you have to stop?”
“I’ve never thought about it but I don’t know,” I answer.
“Don’t you think there should be?”
