Glendale’s police chief will soon head north to take the top job at the Prescott Police Department.

Chief Debora Black’s last day with the Glendale Police Department will be July 15.

With the retirement of Glendale Assistant Chief Matt Lively, Black becomes the second top-level officer to leave the city this year.

Black has worked in Glendale for about a decade. Before that, she spent about 25 years with the Phoenix Police Department, rising from patrol officer to assistant chief.

Glendale Assistant Chief Rick St. John, a 19-year veteran of the force, has been named as Black’s interim replacement.
