Pima County has seen its first case of travel-related Zika virus. This is the sixth case of Zika in Arizona.
"This individual, after presenting with symptoms consistent with Zika virus infection, went to his physician and Zika virus infection was the differential diagnosis, appropriate testing was done and the testing came back positive," said Dr. Carlos Perez-Velez with the Pima County Health Department.
Perez-Velez said the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed the diagnosis.
Five other residents from Maricopa County have also been infected with Zika while traveling abroad.
Symptoms are usually mild and include fever and rash. Zika has been linked to fetal deaths and severe birth defects.
