Temperatures have been about 10 degrees above normal throughout Arizona in the last few days. Prescott hit an all-time high Monday of 105 degrees. The city’s previous record was 104 degrees, last reached in 2013.
According to the National Weather Service, the heat will continue across the state this week, due to a high pressure system that’s been building for days. An excessive heat warning for the Valley has been extended through at least Thursday night, while lower desert areas of the state have a heat warning through Wednesday.
At least five people in Arizona have died in the current heat wave.
