In Unusual Move, FBI Vet Tapped To Head Border Patrol

In an unusual move, an FBI veteran was tappedMonday to head the U.S. Border Patrol.

But, new chief Mark Morgan is familiar to the agency. In 2014, he was put in charge of reviewing complaints about excessive force and misconduct by Customs and Border Protection personnel.

The Border Patrol has traditionally been led by former agents. Morgan has been with the FBI for 20 years and led the bureau’s El Paso office.

Morgan will oversee 21,000 Border Patrol agents and personnel.
