Federal authorities have joined the investigation into five murders in Phoenix's Maryvale neighborhood.
Phoenix police say this type of information sharing is something they do on daily basis. There are local officers who work full-time with agencies like the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Investigators say the murders have several things in common— they happened on weekend nights, the victims were shot in front of homes, and there is no clear motive for any of the shootings.
The first incident was more than two months ago, but the rest have occurred in June. Detectives are searching for a specific link between the murders. They are focusing on the area between 67th and 55th avenues, McDowell Road and Campbell Avenue.
Police want anyone who sees something suspicious to call the Violent Crime Bureau or Silent Witness, 480-948-6377.
