Friday was supposed to be the day the owners of the Arizona Coyotes made a major announcement about where the team’s next home would be.

Speculation has been rampant that the organization would leave Glendale in its rear-view mirror and agree to a partnership with a Native American tribe—specifically the Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian community. Coyotes CEO Anthony LeBlanc said the team is on track to find its next venue but wasn’t prepared to give specifics.

The Coyotes will soon have a Southwest neighbor in the National Hockey League. The NHL announced an expansion franchise has been granted to Las Vegas. The team will begin playing in the 2017-18 regular season. It’s the first major professional home team to land in Vegas.
