NMSU To Offer Mexican Students Discounted Tuition

(Photo courtesy of New Mexico State University via Twitter)

New Mexico State University will now offer discounted tuition to some Mexican students. The new rate will be about half of what out-of-state students pay.

The program is called Descubre, or “discover” in Spanish. It offers tuition at just under $4,700 per semester for Mexican undergraduates, and a slightly lower rate for graduate students.

According to a press release, this is part of a campaign to attract more Mexican students to the school. The program is offered to Mexican citizens who’ve been admitted to the school, and who have an F or J visa sponsored by NMSU’s Office of International Student and Scholar Services. The new tuition will be effective this Vall.

Right now, about 175 to 200 Mexican undergrads and graduate students study at New Mexico State in a typical year.
