The Indian Health Service has awarded more than $7.5 million dollars in grants to health care facilities in urban areas around the country. That includes almost half a million dollars for the Native Health Center in Phoenix, as well as facilities in Tucson and Flagstaff.

The money will be used in four areas: alcohol and substance abuse, health promotion and disease prevention, immunizations and behavioral health treatment.

Sherriann Moore is acting director of the Office of Urban Indian Health Programs with the Indian Health Service.
