Tempe is counting down to the 26th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act by highlighting accomplishments and launching a new app for people with disabilities.
The app is called Access Tempe. It will be unveiled July 26, the anniversary of the federal Act, known as the ADA. The law was modeled after the Civil Rights Act, designed to create equal opportunities for people.
In the days leading up to the app’s launch, Tempe is posting daily notes to Facebook and Twitter showcasing the city’s actions to improve accessibility.
They include a list of recreation classes and a guide that details free parking, Braille menus and wheelchair rentals among other things.
