FBI: Tucson Terror Suspect Called Himself 'American Jihadist'

More information is coming out about the arrest of a Tucson man on terror charges last week. Mahin Khan allegedly identified as a supporter of Muslim terrorist groups and targeted an Air Force recruitment center in Tucson.

In a heavily redacted Probable Cause document from Arizona Superior Court, the FBI said Khan called himself an “American jihadist.” He allegedly told an unnamed person he was a supporter of ISIL and TTP, both terrorist groups.

Khan allegedly mentioned wanting two AK 47s and a pistol, but then apparently changed his mind and requested a pressure cooker. The document says Khan said he needed the weapons to kill Marines and Jews.

Khan, who recently turned 18, was arrested June 30 in Tucson. He faces charges of terrorism and conspiracy to commit terrorism. He’s being held without bond in Phoenix, and his next court date is July 12.
