Phoenix police released an updated sketch of the serial street shooter Thursday afternoon.
The so-far anonymous assasin has menaced Maryvale for months, and law enforcement said this week he's responsible for a murder near the airport, and a non-fatal shooting near downtown.
The original illustration released by Phoenix police showed the profile of a young man. The updated one gives an impression of his entire face, and is based on a better suspect description from a different witness.
Phoenix police Sgt. Jonathan Howard had been reluctant to speculate about the suspect’s age or ethnicity. He said Thursday investigators now have a better idea of who the suspect is.
“Right now we’re describing our suspect as a Hispanic male in his 20s, noticeably thin or lanky, with dark hair,” Howard said.
Detectives are also analyzing a new description of the suspect’s vehicle, but Howard said that information has not been confirmed.
Seven people have been killed, and two others wounded, in a series of shootings that police have tracked back to the middle of March. The victims’ ages range from 12 to 55, and investigators have said there is no clear motive for the shootings.
