The Fuller Fire burning on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon has burned about 3,000 acres.
There are 500 fire personnel managing the lightening cased fire that sparked late last month.
Fire spokesperson, Michelle Fidler, said crews are focusing on keeping the fire from spreading further into the Kaibab National Forest. She said they’re working to protect multiple ecosystems that have not had any previous wildfire burnouts in recent history…
“Where we have the opportunity to protect those values at risk, that’s where we’re focusing our resources," Fidler said. "So, we have a full range of actions available to us to suppress portions of the fire as needed. Or to help direct of confine the fire spread in certain areas.”
State Route Highway 67 and the North Rim developed area remain open. The fire has resulted in closures of Grand Canyon National Park access roads to the Point Imperial and Cape Royal viewpoints along the North Rim.
