Arizona Congressman Ruben Gallego is one of the featured speakers on day three of the Democratic National Convention.
The Phoenix Democrat introduced the state delegation Tuesday night in Philadelphia, alluding to the significance of nominating Hillary Clinton.
“We are proud to be the home state of Cesar Chavez, home state of many native tribes, home state of electing some of the first women leaders in this country,” he said before announcing Arizona's 34 delegate votes for Bernie Sanders. Gallego then passed the mic to 102-year-old Jerry Emmett, who cast the majority of Arizona's ballots to officially nominate Hillary Clinton as the Democratic candidate for president.
Gallego, who is an Iraq War veteran, takes the convention stage today. “I’m very excited. We’ll be talking about veterans and national security issues.”
