The Arizona Cardinals have agreed to a new five-year contract with star defensive back Tyrann Mathieu reportedly worth $62.5 million, $40 million of it guaranteed.
The 24-year-old Mathieu, known affectionately as the “Honey Badger,” has emerged as one of the team's defensive leaders, coming off his best season as a pro with five interceptions.
That was despite missing the final two games and the team’s postseason run with a torn ACL. Mathieu is still recovering from the knee injury and is slated to miss the first few weeks of Cardinals training camp.
