American Airlines recently announced it’ll move its pilot training center from Phoenix to Charlotte, North Carolina and Ft. Worth, Texas. This follows last year’s move of the carrier’s flight attendant training from Phoenix to Texas.
It’s part of American’s 2013 merger with Tempe-based US Airways. At the time, company executives said they planned to move the combined carrier’s headquarters to American Airlines headquarters in Ft. Worth.
Henry Harteveldt, is founder of Atmosphere Research Group, a San Francisco-based travel industry research company. The Show asked him via Skype if the pilot training move just continues the migration of American Airlines employees from Phoenix to Texas.
For another perspective, The Show is joined by Bob Mittelstaedt, dean emeritus at ASU’s W.P. Carey School of Business.
