Art galleries have become a big part of areas of the Valley – think Roosevelt Row or Old Town Scottsdale. But, art sales have been on the decline.
Christie’s International, the auction house, reported $3 billion in sales during the first half of the year, which is down a third from the same time last year. Sotheby’s, another auction house, is down a quarter during the first half of 2016, compared to 2015.
And, galleries have also reported dipping sales, both here in the Valley and elsewhere. Joining KJZZ's Mark Brodie to talk about this are Paul Eubanks, co-owner of Gallery Russia in Scottsdale, and Ellee Bokharachi, associate director and art critic at Tilt Gallery, also in Scottsdale.
