Tourism is one of Arizona’s most important industries and there are lots of marketing campaigns to try to bring tourists to different parts of the state.

Two East Valley cities have formed their own partnership.

Chandler and Tempe each put up about $60,000 this year for the Sunny Arizona campaign, which consists of a website and advertising in AAA publications, among other efforts.

"The longer a person can stay, the more impact they're going to have," said Michael Martin, the executive vice president of the Tempe Tourism Office.

The ultimate goal? Get people to spend another night in a Chandler or Tempe hotel.

Martin joins Kimberly Janes, Chandler’s tourism development coordinator, for a discussion on how the partnership is working.
