The Arizona Corporation Commission Thursday decided a closely-watched rate case. It involved a small utility, called UNS, but observers say the outcome in that case could have implications for solar fees charged by bigger utilities.

Rachel Leingang of the Arizona Capitol Times covered the hearing.

"They're...the first utility that's actually going through the process of trying to address solar in their rates," Leingang said.

"The commission ultimately only approved a $1.58 fee monthly for solar customers that only really covers the capital cost of an additional meter," Leingang said.

A second part of the case is expected to address additional solar issues.
