Phoenix police say they’re searching around the clock for a serial street shooter who’s responsible for seven murders, and the man leading the investigation took questions from the public Tuesday night at the Mountain View Precinct in northeast Phoenix.
Investigators at first focused their efforts on the west Phoenix neighborhood of Maryvale. But they’ve since identified three shootings that occurred in east Phoenix, including the most recent incident on July 11.
The attacks still appear random, said Phoenix police Lt. Ed DeCastro, who is leading the investigation.
“We haven’t been able to connect any of these victims in any way at this point,” DeCastro said.
Phoenix police continue to work with federal law enforcement agencies. But DeCastro thinks the public will ultimately help break the case.
“It’s really going to come down to a tip and something that you guys can bring to us,” DeCastro said.
Investigators have received about 1,200 tips through Silent Witness. The reward for information leading to an arrest is $50,000.
