Valley Sees Sixth Consecutive Day Of High Ozone Pollution

Another high ozone pollution advisory is in effect in Phoenix today. The ozone levels are expected to surpass a new lower federal health standard for the sixth consecutive day.

Mark O’Malley, with the National Weather Service, said rainfall would alleviate some of these conditions, but the spotty showers we’ve seen in the Valley lately haven’t been enough.

"If we can get, and we are going to see somewhat cooler weather, and a little bit more cloudy weather, that helps," said O'Malley. "If we can get some widespread rain. We are seeing some rain in the metro today that might help as well."

The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality is advising people with respiratory problems to limit outdoor activity, especially children and the elderly.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
