Maricopa County wants to cut down on the number of parents with active child-support warrants.
The court is holding their second Child Support Arrest Workshop at the downtown courthouse Friday.
Keelan Bodow with Maricopa County Superiour Court said, “We currently have 1,348 active child support warrants in Maricopa County. And our main goal here is to get the money to the children that need it. So, we do want to encourage any obligors to come in at the events and take advantages of the services we have.”
Bowdow says she wants to hold as many events like this as they can. A similar event in February had 95 attendees, garnering more than $16,000 in back child support.
Warrants will only be quashed after one full month's payment for those who attend today’s event.
