Select Medical Corporation, based in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, notified the Arizona Department of Economic Security that it plans to close its facility at 74th Street and Osborn Road. That’s where the company has been leasing space at the Honor Health Medical Campus.
Select Medical’s website lists 18 physical therapy and specialty hospitalsin Arizona. According to the company document, nurses and nursing assistants make up nearly half the terminated positions. More than 20 pharmacists, therapists and technicians will also lose their jobs.
A company spokeswoman told KJZZ that many employees will be offered the opportunity to transfer to other Select Medical hospitals in Arizona and nearly half are already in transition.
The notification letter does not explain why the Scottsdale location is scheduled to close in October.
