Panel Recommends New Standards For Valley Fever Treatment

Valley Fever is an illness strongly associated with Arizona. It’s caused by the coccidioides fungus and often manifests itself with flu-like symptoms.

But reaction can be much more dramatic, leaving some people ill for months.

An Infectious Diseases Society of America panel, which includes three U of A physicians, has issued new recommendations for national guidelines on how to treat Valley Fever.

We got details from Dr. John Galgiani of the U of A’s Valley Fever Center for Excellence.
