Incumbent Helen Purcell appears to have defeated challenger Aaron Flannery in the Maricopa County Recorder's GOP primary race.
All the votes were counted over the weekend and Purcell leads Flannery by 185 votes. That's less than 1 percentage point. An automatic recount happens if the difference is fewer than 10 votes. Candidates can also request one if they feel there are sufficient grounds.
Purcell has held the office since 1988 and has recently been under fire for the handling of the March Presidential Preference election when some voters waited in line for hours.
