An agreement between the U.S. and Mexico lifts most restrictions on flights and allows both country's airlines to fly whatever routes they want, when they want and charge what they want.
Previously, only a limited number of airlines from each country could fly particular routes. The Associated Press reports American, Delta and Southwest have announced they’ll add new flights to Mexico later this year.
U.S Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx said the increased competition should bring lower prices.
The deal also applies to cargo carriers, allowing them to establish new routes and provide faster service.
