In Northwest Arizona, one city on the Colorado river has faced a mosquito and bug problem for the past few years. This week, city council will look at ways to address the pests.
Caddisflies, mosquitoes and black flies: Bullhead city has dealt with clouds of the bugs in the summer and have addressed the problem in a few different ways.
Most recently, the city hired a full-time entomologist to manage its pest abatement program, which is part of a plan that’s been dealing with the bugs since 1984.
The new hire will be introduced at Tuesday’s city council meeting, where the council will likely approve an agreement between the city and Mohave County to use $25,000 in grant money to manage the mosquitoes.
