Post-Recession Budget Realities Push Arizona Public Universities To Rethink Value, Success

Arizona's public university system had tens of millions of dollars reduced in its budget during the depths of the Great Recession.

That in itself wasn't unique, but some other states have embraced the concept of pumping more of that money back into the schools post-Recession. At the close of the most recent legislative session, Governor Doug Ducey did sign a budget that restored a small percentage of that higher ed funding.

But is that amount going to make a difference?

We talked with Eileen Klein, president of the Arizona Board of Regents, about how the universities have to deal with a new funding model. We also found out about financial questions at the University of Arizona’s medical school and the process of finding UA’s next president.
