Tucson Police Department Use Red Tags To Break Up 'Unruly Gatherings'

The Tucson Police Department’s Red Tag Unit is out in force around the city, including in neighborhoods around the University of Arizona.

Its officers are enforcing Tucson’s “unruly gatherings” ordinance.  Violators face fines starting at $500.

The ordinance has been in place for a few years, but this year, TPD is working with UofA police on a pilot program to increase law enforcement presence in certain neighborhoods near campus that tend to be more unruly than others. KJZZ's The Show speaks with Detective Kris Goins in the Tucson Police Department,
