The Obama Administration has temporarily stopped work on the Dakota Access Pipeline, which would carry oil more than 1,000 miles from North Dakota to Illinois.
The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe has been leading the protest against the project, arguing it could taint drinking water, and would destroy sacred land.
Tuesday is a national day of action against the pipeline, with rallies planned in a number of cities, including Phoenix. The rally will take place from 5 p.m.- 7 p.m. Tuesday at Steele Indian School Park.
With KJZZ's The Show to talk about that is Stacey Champion, she’s a community activist who owns a PR and consulting firm and Mario Etsitty, a member of the Navajo Nation who’s also a part of today’s event.
