Students from one of two Glendale Elementary School District campuses closed over safety concerns will attend class in an unused school in the Alhambra Elementary School District.
Instead of starting split-schedules Thursday at the Bicentennial North campus, students from Challenger school will resume classes Friday in what used to be a primary school near 39th and Glendale avenues.
Logistics haven't been completely worked out, and the schedule will still be slightly compressed, said district spokesman Jim Cummings.
“But it will be as close to a full day as we can possibly get them,” Cummings said. “And that will mean that they’ll go to specials. They’ll go to gym. They’ll go to music. They’ll go to art.”
The district has not found a temporary home for students from Landmark school, and they will still attend class on a split-schedule at the Desert Spirit campus, Cummings said.
Officials expect repairs at Challenger and Landmark schools to start next week.
