Senator John McCain says Arizona is on the front lines of the “unraveling of Obamacare.”
On Friday, McCain was in Phoenix speaking with insurance agents and others in the healthcare field who are worried about the rising cost of plans on the federally run exchange in the state.
Fourteen of Arizona’s 15 counties only have one carrier so far, and McCain said that has created a monopoly, eliminating many options for consumers.
"This is a graphic illustration of the total failure of Obamacare. People are paying higher premiums, people don't know where their next insurance policy will be," McCain said.
The senator has introduced legislation that would allow people to opt out of the individual mandate if they live in a county with one or no insurer. Open enrollment begins in November.
