Should Computer Science Classes Count Toward High School Graduation Requirements?

Jobs that require some kind of computer knowledge are becoming more prevalent, but some educators worry about the training students are getting in computer science.

A report looks at state policies dealing with high school students’ ability to apply those courses to graduation requirements in math and science.

Jennifer Zinth wrote the report and joins The Show to discuss it. She’s the director of High School and STEM for Education Commission of the States, a non-partisan group for education policy-makers across the country.

Mark Brodie is a co-host of The Show, KJZZ’s locally produced news magazine. Since starting at KJZZ in 2002, Brodie has been a host, reporter and producer, including several years covering the Arizona Legislature, based at the Capitol.
