Maricopa County has taken two small steps forward in a process that could end with private investors buying Chase Field.
County officials have tapped the company CBRE to do an appraisal of the less than 20-year-old stadium that’s home to the Arizona Diamondbacks. CBRE calls itself “the world’s largest commercial real estate services and investment firm.”
The appraisal contract is for $47,000, said Fields Moseley, communications director for Maricopa County. Work on the appraisal should start immediately.
“That is expected to be in draft form before the end of October,” Moseley said. “And we hope in the meantime, the team will be speaking with the potential buyer.”
The Diamondbacks declined to comment on when a meeting might take place. The team has previously said they would talk with the prospective buyer.
The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors took a second step forward by voting unanimously to tweak the original agreement with the potential buyer, which again clears the way for investors to inspect Chase Field.
