Since Yellowstone, National Parks Spread Internationally

The U.S. National Parks Service is celebrating its centennial this year and there’s little doubt that the U.S. was the pioneer in that category.

Yellowstone actually became the first national park in the world in 1872.

But other countries have also embraced the concept of national parks and developed their own unique heritages.

To learn more about national parks beyond U.S. borders, we talked with John Putnam. He’s the international cooperation specialist for the National Parks Service.
