FBI: Violent Crime Up In US, Several Arizona Cities

New FBI data shows violent crime rates in the United States in 2015 were up almost 11 percent from the year before. Several Arizona cities showed a similar trend.

Violent crimes in Phoenix increased 6 percent, from roughly 8,700 in 2014 to around 9,200 in 2015. That trend was largely due to an increase in aggravated assaults.

However, there were two fewer homicides in the same time period.

Violent crime was also up in Tempe and Chandler.

Property crimes in several valley cities saw a decrease from 2014 to 2015 including Phoenix, Mesa and Chandler.
