Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey said he’s preparing a shopping list of state regulations and state agencies he wants to kill in the next legislative session. It was part of a larger conversation about streamlining state policies at a conference of small business advocates this week.
At the conference Ducey, boasted about legislation that he’s already signed to eliminate restrictions and freeze new rules. He said he expects more of this kind of action in the next legislative session in January.
Ducey said he wants to shrink some of Arizona’s 220 boards and commissions and even eliminate some state agencies.
"We're going to look at any regulation that gets in the way of job creation that isn't beneficial, doesn't help the state, protect the consumer. We want to eliminate it. We want to streamline it," said Ducey.
When it comes to specifics on that plan though, Ducey said he isn’t quite ready to share that.
