Sen. Flake Intends To Change Americans With Disabilities Act

Regardless of who wins the election, one of the first bills to be introduced in Congress next year could be a bill to change the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Sen. Jeff Flake said he wants to stop what he describes as extortion attempts by people filing numerous lawsuits against businesse s that may have unknowingly committed a violation

"These businesses can’t say, 'I didn’t realize the sign was 1 inch too low. Let me fix it,'" Flake said. "Our legislation gives them 120 days to fix the situation before the lawsuit is filed."

In Arizona. the attorney general has moved to block an organization that has filed hundreds of lawsuits against businesses, alleging violations of the Americans With Disabilities Act.
