'Moment:' New Tech Communicated Through Touch

Moment is a device you'd wear on your wrist and it communicates information through touch.

Whether it’s the Fitbit or an Apple watch or any number of devices we put on our wrists to tell time or measure our steps or give us e-mails and voice mail messages, our lives have been changed by wearable technology.

Now a Phoenix-based company called Somatic Labs has come up with what they consider to be an evolution of that kind of technology.

It’s called Moment, another device you’d wear on your wrist, but it’s completely designed for the sense of touch.

Moment will communicate things such as turn-by-turn directions and caller identification all by touch.

To learn more about it, KJZZ's The Show spoke with Shantanu Bala, Jake Rockland and Ajay Karpur of Somatic Labs.

Steve Goldstein was a host at KJZZ from 1997 to 2022.
