Phoenix police believe a 36-year-old man killed his two children Sunday and then committed suicide.
The 911 calls sent officers to a Tolleson home near 91st Avenue and Broadway Road. Police say sisters, ages 4 and 5, had been visiting their father.
Police say they found the father and girls inside a bedroom. Two were pronounced dead at the scene. The 4-year-old was rushed to a hospital, where she died.
Phoenix police Sgt. Mercedes Fortune said detectives have not identified a motive.
"We know that there is some indication that one of the callers was the ex-wife. We’re trying to figure out if that has anything to do with the motive behind this horrendous scene," said Fortune.
Fortune said authorities finished up work at the house Monday morning. But the investigation is ongoing. She said police anticipate identifying the victims on Tuesday.
