The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has been ordered to update a decades-old recovery plan for the endangered Mexican wolf.

An Arizona judge approved a settlement agreement in a lawsuit filed by the state of Arizona Jim deVos is with the Arizona Game and Fish Department. He said come November 30, 2017, his agency will have a recovery plan.

"There will be those that don’t like and those that like it, but at least from a management standpoint, we’ll have an understanding of the numbers and the geography of recover and that will allow us to move forward," deVos said.

An attorney for opponents of the settlement accused the federal government of catering to special interest groups. There are about 100 wolves in the wild in Arizona and New Mexico.
