Halloween is just a few days away. A day when candy is a central theme for celebration. It also marks the beginning of a “season of eating" and Arizonans are doing better than average.
A report released in September by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation said 28 percent of adults in Arizona are obese, and that is better than most states.
Arizona’s obesity rate ranks 34th nationwide. But, the third of the state that is obese is concentrated.
According to the study, 35 percent of Latino adults in Arizona are obese. That’s eighth highest in the nation, while a quarter of non-Hispanic white adults in the state classify as obese, and that’s ninth lowest in the nation. Arizona’s rate of diabetes is 10 percent.
