Fall Classic Celebrated In Arizona

The World Series may be in Cleveland and Chicago this year. But the Fall Classic is also being celebrated here in the Valley.

The National League champion Cubs spring train in Mesa and many of their Arizona fans are transplanted Chicagoans.

Meanwhile, the American League champion Indians make their spring home in Goodyear, where Tribe fans have been gathering for watch parties to support their team.

Goodyear spokesman Amy Bolton said they are already seeing increased interest in the Indians’ for next spring’s Cactus League season. “Our ticket sales, office phones have been ringing off the hook. So, we anticipate a lot of interest no matter what the outcome of the series is.”

Bolton said having two teams with Valley ties in the series is something that the entire state and region can benefit from.

Cactus League spring training is estimated to bring more than $800 million in annual economic impact to the region.
