ASU Professor Discusses What Political Visits To Arizona Indicate

presidential election
Graphicstock.com

Surrogates of the presidential nominees have made a habit of stopping by Arizona over the past couple of weeks. Bernie Sanders, Chelsea Clinton and First Lady Michelle Obama stumped for Hillary Clinton, while Donald Trump Jr. was here for his father.

Meanwhile, the candidates themselves will be in the state, as Donald Trump is back again tomorrow and Hillary Clinton will be campaigning here on Wednesday. That has cemented the claim that Arizona is, in fact, a swing state that is very much in play for November.

We talked about what it all means with Thomas Catlaw, an associate professor in ASU’s School of Public Affairs. He studies political engagement and government.
