More and more colleges and universities are starting to use data to try and help students succeed. Some of what education officials have found has been surprising.
Melissa Vito, senior vice president for Student Affairs and enrollment management and senior vice provost for Academic Initiatives and Student Success at the University of Arizona, says the data analysis done at UA has basically shown you can look at how students do in an intro-level course and predict how they’ll do later on.
Vito mentions that in addition to UA, Civitas — the company is also working with ASU, NAU and Rio Salado College — is among about 270 other partners. Mark Milliron, co-founder and chief learning officer for Civitas Learning, answers whether all these institutions are looking for the same kinds of data.
